Who We Are
Rev. Dr. Beth Donaldson
Lead Minister, email@example.com
Beth came to us in 2004 after serving in Hawaii for almost 13 years. She is a child of UCC medical missionaries to Zimbabwe (then Southern Rhodesia) and considers herself a citizen of the world and a "global nomad." Her early experiences of Christian community have influenced her vision for what is possible when people of faith work together in shared purpose and love. With a Doctor of Ministry in Preaching, Beth brings a special love for worship and the liturgical arts, including gifts and abilities as a dancer and musician.
Rev. Amy Wick Moore
Associate Minister for Education and Faith Formation, firstname.lastname@example.org
Amy came to us in 2009 after finishing studies at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities and serving as the Director of Outdoor Ministries for the UCC Conference Camp in Alexandria, MN. Amy grew up in Elk River, MN, and went to Concordia College in Moorhead, where her call to ministry grew after spending a semester abroad studying development in India. Amy met her husband working as an Instructor Naturalist at Camp Widjiwagen in Ely, MN, teaching middle schoolers about the North Woods. In her ministry, Amy continues to enjoy leading youth and church members of all ages on retreats, mission trips, and wilderness adventures, such as a trip to Hawaii to learn about UCC history and ancient agricultural practices, winter "camping" trips to the end of the Gunflint Trail, and weekend retreats on Lake Ida.
Amy enjoys working with our children and families as they grow in their faith and a community centered on practicing God's love.
Since September 2004, Aaron Swestka has enjoyed the love, nurture, and talents of the UCCNB community. During UCCNB worship services, weddings, and funerals, he accompanies congregational song on the piano and the organ, and also plays for the UCCNB Choir and summer Special Music offerings. Additional collaboration includes work with the UCCNB Dancers, instrumentalists, and vocal soloists and ensembles including children, youth, and adults. Aaron began music ministry at age 12, in his hometown church, St. Patrick Parish, of Monona, IA. He obtained a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. Aaron and his partner Richard are blessed to share their South Minneapolis home with their two cats, Big Sam and Ivy. Other endeavors include most all genres of music and musical theatre, and enjoying the vast array of great art organizations in the Twin Cities…oh yes, and all-things Disney, too!
Debbie Hanson has been the part-time office secretary since the fall of 2007. In her previous jobs, Debbie worked as a writer and designer. She enjoys a variety of crafts, particularly sewing, card making, and furniture repurposing.
Deb received a BM in Vocal Performance and a BAA in Music Education from the University of MN - Duluth. She also has an MA in Human Resources from the University of MN - Twin Cities. She has conducted adult choirs, kid’s choirs, small groups and done a lot of solo/opera work. Deb feels that a church choir needs to present the word of God in musical formats that lead people to worship in exciting and motivating ways and is always looking for new musical opportunities for the choir.
