Palm Sunday Worship and Action Begins at the State Capital Mall
Christians across the country are taking the Palm Sunday story to the streets, standing up to the rise of authoritarianism and white Christian nationalism. Come show the country that our central commandments, to love God and love our neighbors, is our collective way forward. Spread the word to trusted friends and family who share these Christian values.
Bring your palm from our UCCNB worship service.
There will be easy drop-off at the Capital and a few chairs available if you prefer to sit during the event. Feel free to bring your camp chairs.
MAUNDY THURSDAY
Thursday, April 2: 7pm
We gather for Communion and optional Foot or Hand Washing as we follow Jesus in loving one another. Maundy comes from the Latin name for the day, Deis Mandatum, which means, “the day of the new commandment.” Jesus’ commandment to “love one another as I have loved you,” is the focus on Maundy Thursday. May we continue living this new commandment even in the encroaching darkness preceding the gift of Resurrection and new life of Easter.
GOOD FRIDAY
Good Friday Walk Through Sites of Crucifixion in South Minneapolis
Friday, April 3: 12 pm – 2pm
Sponsored by Lyndale UCC. Join Pastor Cynthia and folks from around the MN UCC Conference.
Beginning at Say Their Names Cemetery at George Floyd Square in Minneapolis, we are invited to witness the site of crucifixion of George Floyd and remember so many others killed by state sponsored/sanctioned violence.
We will then walk or drive to the Renee Good and Alex Pretti memorial sites. We welcome all to be present in this powerful witness in whatever way you can join. There will be poetry, prayer and singing at each site as well as time for quietness and honoring the tears on this land. A part of our community has died. We are called to remember and honor this journey. This will help us prepare for Easter
Good Friday: 8pm at UCCNB
Youth Vigil for grades 6-12. We’ll burn the palms of Palm Sunday with a ritual bon fire. Also a Seven Last Words egg hunt, s’mores, and confetti egg toss. We’ll also continue the tradition of creating an eatable mandala for Easter morning and close the evening with a game of Sardines.
